Prof Marios Adamou

 

In the Queens’ Birthday Honours List published on 12th June 2021, W.Bro. Prof. Marios Adamou was appointed to become an Officer of the Order of the British Empire, more commonly known as an O.B.E.

Marios is a member of Sea-Mere Court No 141 and was born in Cyprus and has a wife and two children. He studied Medicine in Greece and trained in Psychiatry in London before moving to Yorkshire as a Consultant Psychiatrist working at South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. He is also a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Huddersfield. Marios’ Freemasonry began in 2011 at The Brighouse Lodge No. 1301, being introduced through the Provincial Introduction scheme. He was initiated on 20th April 2011. Marios has a passion for Freemasonry and in the 10 years since he was initiated into Craft, has joined twenty other Orders, for many of which he has attained the Chair and also been a Founder. Marios is a big personality with a boundless energy for life. It is no surprise he has been honoured in such a public way for his contribution to Mental Health services.
